Educational History of Shilpa Shetty

Shilpa Shetty attended Poddar College in Matunga and St. Anthony’s Girls High School in Chembur for her higher education. Shilpa Shetty studied Bharatanatyam and served as the volleyball team captain of her high school. In 1991, she completed her tenth-grade education and started a modeling career.

Acting Career and Debut

In September 1992, Shetty signed on for and started production on her first movie, the Dilip Naik-helmed romantic drama Gaata Rahe Mera Dil[17], about a girl caught up in a romantic triangle with two different men (played by Ronit Roy and Rohit Roy). The movie didn’t get released, so Shetty made her acting debut in the thriller Baazigar by Abbas-Mustan, which also starred Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol. The movie, which took inspiration from the Hollywood movie A Kiss Before Dying, included Shetty in a supporting role as Seema Chopra, a girl who is killed by her vengeful boyfriend, played by Khan. Baazigar concluded the year as the fourth-highest-grossing movie, proving to be a huge success at the box office.

Both the movie and Shetty’s performance got positive comments, and at the annual Filmfare Awards ceremony, Shetty was nominated for Best Supporting Actress and Lux New Face of the Year (now known as Best Female Debut). Three of Shetty’s movies were released in 1994. The action drama Aag, in which she had her first leading part, was her debut release that same year. Shetty played Bijli, a country belle disguised as a plainclothes police officer tasked with apprehending a killer (played by Govinda) at all costs. The movie also starred Govinda and Sonali Bendre.

Television Career

She made her reality television debut in 2006 by serving as a judge on the dance competition Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. Shetty began participating in the fifth season of the British reality series Celebrity Big Brother in early 2007. Shetty gained a lot of attention from the international media during her time in the house for both the racism she experienced from the other candidates and for finally winning the competition. She then hosted the second season of the reality competition Bigg Boss. Shetty claimed that the subject was especially important to her because she had represented an HIV-positive patient in her 2004 movie Phir Milenge.

Several publications said that Shetty joined PETA in March 2006 as part of an advertising effort against the usage of wild animals in circuses. [34] Shetty has reportedly been a longtime supporter of PETA and has helped the cause by appearing in pictures wearing a figure-hugging tiger costume.

Shetty participated in and won Season 5 of the British reality television program Celebrity Big Brother in January 2007. She was the show’s first famous Indian to appear. Reportedly paid Rs.31.5 m (£367,500 GBP) for her participation, she said to presenter Davina McCall, “I just want every Indian to be extremely proud that I’m in here”.

She and co-judges Geeta Kapoor and Anurag Basu have been supervising Super Dancer on the Sony Entertainment channel from the beginning of 2016. Shetty was chosen by the Indian government to represent the Swachh Bharat Mission, an initiative to improve sanitation across the country, as its brand ambassador in 2017. For her efforts in the campaign, she was given the Champions of Change award on January 20, 2020.

She was named the brand ambassador for Nourish, a line of food goods from the edible oil and food products company B.L. Agro Industries, in the categories of grains, dry fruits, and pulses in 2021.
